Huawei U8230 And C8000 Announced, An Android And A WinMo Phone

Huawei has introduced two new handset during CommunicAsia 2009 in Singapore in the form of the U8230 and C8000. Let’s start with the first one, the U8230 (pictured above) is the company’s first Android smartphone that features a wide 3.5-inch touchscreen display, a 3.2MP camera, an on-screen QWERTY keyboard, a trackball, various Google apps and a 1,500 mAh battery. Meanwhile, the C8000 utilizes the Windows Mobile operating system and offers a 2.8-inch touchscreen display, a 3D menu graphic user interface (GUI) and a unique independent display adapter which enables the smooth presentation of video files and DVD-quality. Both smartphones will be commercially available in the second half of 2009 for unannounced price yet.

New: Philips C600 and W186 Review

Philips Releases C600 and W186 Handsets

Philips will launch the C600 and W186 later this week. The Philips C600 is a dual-mode cell phone that works on Tri-band GSM networks (900/1800/1900 MHz), and on CDMA 800 MHz. What makes this handset unique is that it comes with two call keys, one for GSM and one for CDMA. Other features include a 2.4-inch QVGA touchscreen display, an MP3 player, a 1.3MP camera with video recording, a 2.5MB of internal memory and MicroSD card support (up to 2GB).

Meanwhile, the Philips W186 is made for China Unicom’s Wo brand. The phone supports Tri-band GSM (900/1800/1900 MHz) and dual-band UMTS (850/2100 MHz) connectivity, with HSDPA 3.6Mbps. Other specs include a 2-inch TFT display with 176 x 220 pixels, a 2MP camera with video recording, Bluetooth with A2DP, an FM radio, a 150MB of internal memory, and MicroSD card support (up to 8GB). No word on pricing so far. We will keep you posted.

LG has launched a new GW550 smartphone that is specially built for business users with its Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system. The phone supports Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and 7.2Mbps HSDPA/2Mbps HSUPA connectivity, QWERTY keyboard, a 2.4-inch QVGA display, a 3MP camera, and stereo speakers. No info on pricing so far.

Samsung S5600 Review

Samsung Mobile has announced the availability of its mid-range touchscreen handset ‘S5600‘ (aka Preston) in the UK via Orange.

As a reminder, the S5600 supports HSDPA connectivity and features a 2.8-inch QVGA touchscreen display with 240 x 320 resolution, a 3.2MP camera with video recording at 15fps, Samsung’s TouchWiz UI, an FM radio, an accelerometer sensor, an 80MB of internal memory, a microSD card slot and Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity.

Available in black, pink and white, the S5600 is sold for £159.50 ($258) on pay as you go, or for free if you sign a 24-month contract agreement (a monthly plan of at least £20 is required)
